Honoring Osborn

Michael Osborn’s contributions to the discipline are well known to any scholar of communication. His work on metaphor helped to establish that area of study as central to the study of public address; his work on rhetorical depiction remains a mainstay of rhetorical theory; and his work on style is canonical. In addition, Osborn’s generosity to the field is without peer. Not only is he a kind and discerning mentor, but we all benefit from the scholarly work highlighted at the Osborn Lecture.  The Osborn reception is the highlight of the annual meeting of SSCA, and we admire those who are honored by the Osborn Teacher-Scholar Award.
